 
A comprehensive 1,249 hr. course consisting of 340 hrs. classroom (didactic), 220 hrs. skills lab, 160 hrs. clinical (hospital experience) and 529 hrs. field internship components.
During didactic, the class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Thursday's are Mentor lab/ride-along, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.The curriculum is based upon the 1999 U.S. D.O.T. guidelines for paramedic training programs. Upon successful completion of the entire course, a Certificate of Course Completion will be issued. This certificate will allow the student to apply for National Registry Certification/Licensure and subsequently for employment as an EMT-Paramedic.
This course is taught by our seasoned instructors who assist the students throughout the course by providing continual instructor access, tutoring, simulations practice and other interactive teaching tools. We utilize technology to further the students understanding of the material in the form of SIMM Man (a computerized manikin) and a computer lab. This is a 9 month course that conforms to California Law, Title 22, Article 3, Section 100148, of the Health and Safety Code.

SUBMIT AT INTERVIEW:Must be 18 years of age or olderCopy of High School diploma, Certificate of completion or GEDCopy of current resumeCopy of current EMT-B Certification, renewed within the past 12 months prior to beginning of classCopy of a current American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer CPR card.
Proof of at least one year, full-time equivalent, EMT experience. (Pay stubs, W-2 forms, letter from supervisor etc.)
Completion of the Health Occupation Basic Entrance Test (HOBET) with a minimum score of 61.
Completion of a Paramedic Prep class.
Completion of an Anatomy and Physiology class or Paramedic A&P.
Copy of a Social Security card
Copy of a valid Driver’s License
Copy (firefighter exempt) DMV Ambulance Driver's License
Copy (firefighter exempt) Medical Examiner Certificate |
UPON ACCEPTANCE INTO A PARAMEDIC TRAINING CLASS, THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DUE AT ENROLLMENT:
Provide a criminal background check from http://emstabackgroundcheck.com. This is the only background check EMSTA will accept for Paramedic students. Drug Screen through http://emstabackgroundcheck.com. This is the only drug screen EMSTA will accept for Paramedic students.
Two letters of recommendation (Professional - i.e. Supervisor, Nurse, Doctor, Fire Chief etc.)
Successfull completion of the application process.
Required Inoculations:
- Annual tuberculosis screening: Mantoux tuberculosis test or if positive, Health Departments guidelines for follow up.
- Positive titer to MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) or vaccination against same or a physician’s statement of disease concerning MMR.
- Varicella immunity
(chicken pox).
- Immunizations: Tetanus immunization within the past 5 years.
- Vaccine/immunity Hepatitis B is recommended.
